Dr. Roberta Mann considers her life a journey, and believes there are three essential accomplishments for that journey: To find meaning and passion and to make a difference. Currently, Roberta is president of the Ted and Dr. Roberta Mann Foundation.
As a philanthropist and community leader, Roberta has served in leadership roles for many organizations both locally and nationally, including the Board of Governors of the Boys and Girls Club of America, and as the first woman president of the Boys and Girls Club of Minneapolis, Vice President of the Minnesota Symphony Orchestra, and Trustee of the Minneapolis Institute of Art. She’s been involved with United Way since 1989 and recently became a Century Legacy donor. Roberta is an active volunteer with the Pacer Center and provides annual support for the national Ted and Dr. Roberta Mann Foundation Symposium, supporting children, adults and their families with mental health and learning disabilities.In 2006, in recognition of her support and accomplishments, Roberta became an Ellis Island Medal of Honor recipient.
As a co-founder of Abbott Northwestern Hospital’s Institute for Health and Healing, Roberta followed her Father’s footsteps and became an active leader in the field of integrative medicine. This resulted in the Ted and Dr. Roberta Mann Foundation’s decision to strategically focus on the field of Integrative Mental Health.
Roberta holds a Doctorate degree of Education in Leadership with continued studies in Adlerian Psychotherapy from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. She earned her Master of Arts Degree in Adlerian Studies from the Adler Graduate School. In addition, she holds a certificate in Consulting and Coaching of Organizations from the Coaches Training Institute of California.
She is married to Don Benson and the proud mother of John and Blythe Brenden, both of whom are following in the family tradition of philanthropy and community service
